About the role:
  • Provides leadership on statistical issues through collaboration with engineers and scientists across the laboratory.
  • Areas of application include materials science and engineering, nuclear reactor design, and manufacturing support. 
  • Conceiving, developing, and applying statistical techniques to problem solve.
  • Promote understanding and application of modern statistical techniques through teaching appropriate courses for laboratory personnel. 
  • Proficiency in R or SAS is highly desirable.
  • Experience or training in some or all of the following areas is desired:linear and nonlinear regression, mixed-effects models, analysis of censored data, variance components estimation, experimental design, and statistical simulation

Required Skills *

  • Master’s degree in a science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant experience; or
  • PhD in a science-related field from an accredited college or university
  • Strong interest in using statistical methods to solve practical scientific and engineering problems. 
  • Proficiency in one or more statistical programming languages (R, JMP, SAS, etc.)
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • PhD in Applied Statistics
  • Experience applying statistics in engineering environment
  • Degree in Applied Statistic or Certificate in Applied Statistics
  • Background (education or experience) in physical sciences or engineering
  • Teaching experience at college/university level
