At SG we are dedicated to producing cutting edge technology to solve real world market problems in the automated trading space. We are looking for the next generation of traders to join us in this mission. As a Junior Trader, you will proceed through a ten week training program during which you will learn about the financial markets, our technology and software, and the business of automated trading. You will be expected to develop and hone skills in data science, statistical analysis, and programming that will cultivate your ability to add value to our trading team. We are looking for continuous learners and self-starters who are ready to push boundaries by proposing innovative ideas while critically thinking through real-world market problems. The ideal candidate is passionate about the trading industry and is eager to learn about trade strategy.
Responsibilities & Expectations
- Consistently meet training and work deliverables by learning about markets, technology, algorithms, and programming.
- Bring new ideas to the table and use data and logic to advocate for your ideas.
- Critically think through projects and poke holes in things that you don’t agree with.
- Improve existing strategies, explore new strategies, and use data and logic to advocate for your ideas.
- Be open minded and eager to learn and be less wrong.
- Enjoy understanding things from first principles.
- Be comfortable giving and receiving feedback to refine and develop ideas.
Skills and Experience *Candidates are not required to have all these qualifications but will be expected to learn these through the training program
- 1 year of work or internship experience preferred
- Experience working with automation, statistics, or data analysis is a plus.
- Ability to independently think through logic problems.
- Ability to think critically about problems and to understand the downstream effects of decisions.
- Some Python or C++ programming knowledge preferred
- Exposure to SQL and databases is a plus.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree required.
