About our group:
Seagate offers the highest capacity disk drives in the industry, using cutting edge technology delivered by high achieving engineers. The Advanced Recording Systems (ARS) Team develops highly complex technical solutions that enable Hard Disc Drive Capacity growth to record levels. The team works with Seagate research, design centers, and component centers around the world to stage new technology used in both legacy Perpendicular and upcoming Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR) Hard Disk drives, with emphasis on magnetic write/read processes, channel electronics, and error recovery.
About the role - you will:
As part of this work, you will perform DOE, data analysis and hands on lab measurements. Fast pace environment with many challenging opportunities. You will learn the basics of optimizing complex systems, product development, and what goes into advanced technology staging at leading technology company
About you:
- Student pursuing a PhD degree in engineering
- You have hands on failure analysis skills
- Familiar with Oscilloscopes, Electronics, and lab equipment
- Working well with others in a team environment
- Coding skills in C+, Python, and Matlab
- Have Technical skills working in labs in science and engineering
- Excellent experimentalist
- Passionate learner and can work in self-directed manner
- You are inquisitive on how things work and why and enjoy solving problems
- Exceptional communication skills and work well with others
Location:
Our Shakopee campus is located 25 minutes southwest of Minneapolis in a setting with a rural vibe – it overlooks a horse racing track and stables, yet it has great entertainment venues close by as well. With wide-open spaces, the campus has plenty of space for running, biking, shooting some hoops or playing volleyball over lunch.
