Game Development Instructor

Job Description


We are looking for passionate coding instructors to teach K-12 students in after-school programs, weekend workshops, and camps. For our regular classes, we maintain a low teacher-student ratio with 1-on-1 class and small group classes, and keep students and instructors together throughout an entire course for a meaningful experience. We also hold outreach programs with schools and other education organizations.

Instructors will take on a number of basic responsibilities:

  • Teach students of all ages (K-12)
  • Lead weekly classes on a number of different programming and game development subjects
  • Work with students to create their own game projects and presentations
  • Run trial classes to inspire future programmers

As your experience grows, there is room to take on more responsibility with student project mentorship, research mentorship, instructor coaching, and curriculum development.

Requirements

  • Computer/Engineering/STEM/Education related majors or relevant experience
  • Interest or experience in creating video games with programming
  • Interest in learning new game development tools including but not limited to - PyGame, Unity, Roblox, and Minecraft
  • At least one afternoon/evening available per week
  • Enjoy working with kids of all ages
  • Exercise patience and humility
  • A passion for learning and education
  • Enjoy playing and designing your own video games

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with popular programming languages (Python, Java, C#, HTML/CSS, JavaScript)
  • Experience using Unity for both 2D and 3D game development
  • Experience with Minecraft Modding
  • Experience in Roblox Studio
  • Experience with various game development tools and platforms not listed

Founded in the fall of 2017, Coding Minds Academy (http://codingmindsacademy.com/) seeks to educate students of all ages in computer science through interactive lessons and enriching programming projects. There are multiple sites located in California, and we are expanding online programs for students nationwide and abroad.
