Responsibilities
The Head of Educational Programs is responsible for the management, administrative direction and coordination of The Ringling’s Education Department including Adult Learning Programs, Scholastic, Youth and Family, Guide training, Museum Tours, and Outreach.
- Responsible for providing oversight and direction to the Museum Education department. Ensures education programs meet AAM best practices. Develops and implements education, public, academic, and outreach initiatives. Supervises and provides direction for full-time staff members including hiring, training and performance evaluation. May provide supervision for part-time staff. Develops budget recommendations and monitors fiscal resources. Assists in preparation of funding proposals and grants.
- Researches, develops, designs and implements public programs such as lectures and gallery talks. Works collaboratively with other departments such as Curatorial, Registrar, and Events in the planning and development of adult/public programs. Identifies opportunities for revenue generation where possible. Manages Arts in Health programs and partnerships.
- Works cross-departmentally to assist in coordinating appropriate educational programming and collateral associated with Museum activities and exhibits.
- Assists in developing tour guide training and provides direction in Guide Program policy changes. Works with Academic Affairs and Human Resources departments to develop quality staff and student training and internships using existing resources where possible.
- Serves as a member of the Museum’s Senior Management Team.
- With the Head of Human Resources, co-leads the Museum’s IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access) Team and works to ensure implementation of IDEA initiatives. Coordinates with Ringling's Head of HR and FSU Chief Diversity Officer on university-wide initiatives as appropriate.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and six year of experience; or High school diploma or equivalency and ten years of experience Note: Post-high school education may substitute for required experience at the comparable rate.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply the processes, procedures and methods used in museum operations in compliance with applicable governing entities such as the American Alliance of Museums.
- Knowledge of applicable computer applications and basic computer functions. Specifically, Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to prepare, coordinate, and conduct workshops.
- Knowledge of adult learning theory.
- Knowledge of training and teaching methodology.
- Ability to maintain and improve personal and team effectiveness, and foster change and creativity.
Preferred
- Advanced degree in Art History or Museum Education.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Previous experience with a focus on Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access.

Anticipated Salary Range
The anticipated rate of pay will not exceed $65,000 annually and will be based on the education, skills, and experience of the selected candidate. Find out more about our benefits under the "FSU Total Rewards" section.

Schedule
Typical working hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a one hour meal period. Evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required based on the needs of The Ringling.
Criminal Background Check
This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
