Alcohol and Drug counselor

Position: Alcohol and Drug counselor
Job Type/Hours: FT M-F 40 hrs. per week
Location: 2205 Bridge St, Philadelphia, PA 19137
 
SUMMARY:
The counselor provides individual and group psychotherapy to clients enrolled in the ASAM 3.1 and 3.5 treatment program and utilizes outreach techniques when clients are absent or disengaged from treatment. The counselor is responsible for actively engaging clients in the treatment process, utilizing various clinical techniques, additional peer support and communication with the treatment team to assist clients through the course of treatment. The counselor works collaboratively with clients to provide clinical interventions, develop individualized treatment plans, and establish safe and supportive aftercare to encourage clients with maintaining a recovery environment.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Full certification as a certified alcohol and drug counselor (CADC) in the State of PA; or
  • Full certification by a nationally recognized body in addictions counseling or co-occurring counseling; or
  • Five (5) years of clinical experience working in the field of substance abuse treatment. Additionally, Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services Field Preferred.
  • Must receive 25 hours of training in addictions or mental health treatment as required by federal, state, and local regulatory entities.  At least half of the training will be completed as an in-service at Net. 
  • Must receive 6 hours of HIV/AIDS training, 4 hours of TB/STD training, and Confidentiality training in state-approved curriculum. 

Credentials Required: (all credentials within 1yr. can be accepted to start)
·        Health Assessment Required
·        PPD, Chest X-ray or QuantiFERON Test (TB Solid Gold) required
·        PA Criminal Background Check required
·        PA Child Abuse Clearance required
·        Out of State Child Abuse Clearance-If Candidate has resided outside of the state of PA within the last 5 years required
·        DHS FBI fingerprint results required
·        PA Mandated Child Abuse Reporter Certificate (ACT 31) required
·        2 References 
·        Proof of Education required
·        Alcohol and drug counselor Certification (preferred)
·        Valid Driver's License required
·        Covid Vaccination Record Required
