Responsibilities of this specific role will include, but not be limited to the following:
- Undertake numerical analyses using first-principles methods to solve our clients’ most difficult challenges
- Perform and report linear and non-linear, static and dynamic structural finite element analysis, principally for structural and geo-engineering applications (e.g. earthquake, wind, and vibration analysis)
- Collaborate with other structural engineers, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, and risk consultants on innovative buildings and infrastructure projects
- Work on defined tasks under the close supervision of a senior engineer
- Analysis, design, and communication of results to clients both internal and external to Arup
We encourage candidates who have interest/aptitude in any of the following:
- Dynamics and seismic design, including performance-based design philosophies
- Materials science and engineering
- Computational Fluid Dynamics
- Wind engineering and extreme environmental loading
- Risk and resilience assessment and design across multiple natural hazards
- Blast and impact design and analysis
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Architectural engineering
- Minimum 3.0 GPA or higher
- Fundamental knowledge of structural mechanics, dynamics, CFD, and/or risk modeling as appropriate
- Understanding of computer programming and coding experience
Preferred:
- Coursework in probability and statistics, or data science
- Experience with FEA and/or CFD tools
- Proficient in programming, web, or app development
