Responsibilities of this specific role will include, but not be limited to the following: 
  • Undertake numerical analyses using first-principles methods to solve our clients’ most difficult challenges 
  • Perform and report linear and non-linear, static and dynamic structural finite element analysis, principally for structural and geo-engineering applications (e.g. earthquake, wind, and vibration analysis) 
  • Collaborate with other structural engineers, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, and risk consultants on innovative buildings and infrastructure projects 
  • Work on defined tasks under the close supervision of a senior engineer 
  • Analysis, design, and communication of results to clients both internal and external to Arup 
 
We encourage candidates who have interest/aptitude in any of the following: 
  • Dynamics and seismic design, including performance-based design philosophies 
  • Materials science and engineering 
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics 
  • Wind engineering and extreme environmental loading 
  • Risk and resilience assessment and design across multiple natural hazards 
  • Blast and impact design and analysis 
 
Qualifications: 
 
Required: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Architectural engineering 
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA or higher 
  • Fundamental knowledge of structural mechanics, dynamics, CFD, and/or risk modeling as appropriate 
  • Understanding of computer programming and coding experience 
 
Preferred: 
  • Coursework in probability and statistics, or data science 
  • Experience with FEA and/or CFD tools 
  • Proficient in programming, web, or app development
