Coordinator, Communications

POSITION PURPOSE: 
The purpose of this job is to be responsible for the assistance of Renewable Energy Group’s global communications strategy with a specific focus on employee communications and business collaborating. This position will be a part of a fast-paced, collaborative and performance driven communications department.  Key accountabilities include editorial planning, copy writing, volunteer coordination and community relations. This position will collaborate with many departments within the company providing communications services and driving forward the company’s brand mission and purpose through effective communications channels and programs. 
 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:   
 Key Accountabilities:
 Communications 40%

  • Coordinates various internal communications efforts, including but not limited to: newsletters, scripts and infographics 
  • Writes content for various REG channels including: website articles, blog posts, media pitches, speeches 
  • Design and create graphics, infographics, fliers and other branded collateral as needed
  • Copy editing and review of material for spelling, grammar, style and brand reputation errors
 Business Partnering: 40% 

  • Engage, collaborate and work cross-functionally with other departments within REG 
  • Assigned to specific functional areas in order to support communications efforts and drive for one voice and one brand across the organization 
 Community Relations 20%

  • Actively participate in company wellness and volunteer efforts and provide communications support for these initiatives 
  • Support Human Resources in promotion of volunteer time off 
  • Maintain relationships with key local organizations and charitable organizations 
  • Represent REG, or find representation from REG, for local community events
  • Support additional REG locations in community relations efforts
  • Other event support as needed
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required: 4 year bachelor’s degree – Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Political Science, Event Management, or related degree 
Experience Required 3-5 years
Skills Required:  
AP Style Writing
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
Adobe Software (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
Special skills or knowledge preferred:
Website management skills
