Digital Marketing Intern

Digital Marketing Internship 

We are seeking a HIGHLY motivated and results-driven student interested in learning more about online marketing who will thrive in a fun, fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a “roll up the sleeves” student to take their work experience to the next level. 

We are Sustainable Westport, a newly independent non-profit (501c3), previously known as the “Green Task Force” (a working advisory group to the First Selectman). We are both passionate about the environment and excited to celebrate the accomplishments of our Town of Westport in transforming Westport into a sustainable green community.

OUR MISSION | NET ZERO BY 2050
The mission of Sustainable Westport is to become a Net Zero community by the year 2050, where the community has reduced its impacts across energy, water and waste so that they are sustainably managed, using approaches that are economically viable, of social benefit, and environmentally responsible. In this effort, Sustainable Westport will educate, inspire and empower Westport residents, businesses, and the town to adopt sustainable practices.
Responsibilities include:

  • Content Management of SustainableWestport.org (training provided)
  • Writing and publishing of climate crisis mitigation content including news, events and resources with applied best practices for search engine optimization (training provided)
  • Incorporate your writing skills through blogs, website pages, and/or social media posts.
  • Assistance with creation of compelling, visually appealing content
  • Creation, content production and publishing of email newsletters
  • Email database management
  • Participation in community outreach and collaboration with local businesses, schools and Connecticut state and US Federal clean energy, transportation and conservation departments.
  • Various other digital marketing projects

Intern will assist in the marketing and execution of these sustainability projects:

  • Accelerate shift from fossil fuels, promoting renewable energy.
  • Help execute programs to reduce food waste to zero.
  • Promote the elimination of single use plastics and an increase of recycling.
  • Educate town on how best to eliminate pesticides from yard care.
  • Increase adoption of public transportation and electric vehicles.
  • Support local community farmers to reduce the town's carbon footprint.
  • Promote equity in environmental solutions.
  • Help educate the community on climate change science and it's impact. 

NOTE: 
  • Familiarity with Wordpress, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Google Docs and/or Excel, MS word and PowerPoint preferred, but not required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to handle multiple-tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines - is all a plus.
