IT User Support Specialist I

Under general supervision, acts as a liaison between the Information Technology department and other County departments, municipalities and local agencies involved in the implementation, maintenance and modification of particular software applications. Has a good understanding of the existing software applications of an operating department and related Information Technology policy and procedure. Assists in the identification of department needs and provides input to the Information Technology team for software design and implementation. Initiates Information Technology determined process re-engineering methods in operating department(s). May provide reports and return on investment analysis. Trains staff in proprietary or County standard software used to meet the changing needs of the department. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments. 

Minimum Qualifications

1. a. Possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field; AND

NOTE: Applicants possessing transcripts from a college or university outside of the United States will be required to provide documentation of degree equivalency from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (http://naces.org/members.html). The degree evaluation will be required for application processing.

b. Have at least one (1) year of full-time professional work experience in system analysis and support, training users on systems and/or applications, system/software testing and implementation; OR
 
2. a. Possess an Associate's degree or sixty (60) semester credit hours in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field; AND

b. Have at least three (3) years of full-time professional work experience in system analysis and support, training users on systems and/or applications, system/software testing and implementation; OR
 
3. a. Must be a high school graduate, or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Education Development Test; AND

b. Have at least five (5) years of full-time professional work experience in system analysis and support, training users on systems and/or applications, system/software testing and implementation.
 
4. Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license. Out of State driver's license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver's license before the hire date.

5. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical established for this classification.
  
6. Satisfactorily complete the six (6) month probationary period.
