Grant Writer: For Nonprofit focused on Foster Youth and Adoptees

Importance of Position: POWER OF STORY is a new nonprofit who is looking for a motivated individual to assist with developing and writing grant proposals to grant-making organizations that will persuasively communicate our mission and programs to potential funders.

Qualifications:
●      Desire to support POWER OF STORY’s mission, to provide person-centered support for fostered youth and adoptees by advocating for their access to information, the training of parents and professionals, hands-on support for young people, and the completion of Lifebooks and Social Medical Histories.
●      Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
●      Self-motivated
●      Reliable
●      Organized
●      Attention to detail
 
Reports to: Employee Director
 
Responsibilities:
●      Attendance at 1-hour initial training and 1 board meeting annually (both can be virtual)
●      Track + report volunteer hours
●      Maintain a respectful relationship with clients, staff, and other volunteers
●      Assemble/submit grant requests, including letters, proposals, budgets, and presentation
●      Conduct foundation + grant prospect research
●      Review + incorporate current research on the Power of Story for young people
●      Other duties as assigned

Volunteer Shifts: Flexible 3-4 hours per week, biweekly check-in with other volunteers
 
Commitment: At least 6 months, 1-year minimum preferred
