Prevention Community Specialist

Prevention Community Specialists will  be mentored and become mentors. They will be trained to facilitate programs that work to prevent sexual and relationship violence and create safety nets in communities impacted by violence. To do this, they will 1) provide education in local schools with the MWH Building Healthy Relationships curriculum, 2) Build and facilitate Building Healthy Relationships programs for communities that experience disproportionate impacts of violence, and 3) participate in (paid) leadership training/apprenticeship toward Building Healthy Organizations, modeled in non-violent practices. 

Hours: 18-20 hrs weekly Begining January, 2022. we will employ you to the maximum of your work-study package. Hours are primarily daytime and some Monday and Tuesday evenings, as is possible with your school schedule.

Job site: multiple program locations on the bus line (primarily libraries and schools)- At this time, it will be at least 1/2 over zoom and might be almost entirely online.  

We will prioritize applicants who are from communities that are disproportionately impacted by violence who wish to build skills to work in their own communities. The ideal candidate is creative, makes connections with others, and deeply cares about the safety of others in their community. They bring both energy and listening skills to their facilitation and are growth-oriented (expecting that they’ll get things wrong and work with mentors to grow)
