Lab Tech Specialist - Materials Synthesis and CO2 Storage

Basic Function
The incumbent is a dedicated and talented professional who will provide materials synthesis and analysis of CO2 storage at the Aramco Research Center―Houston. Perform chemistry intensive research and development projects requiring materials synthesis and CO2-subtrate interaction characterization skills. The individual may have work experience relevant to synthesis of polymers, organic-inorganic hybrids, porous materials, CO2 storage, and hands-on experience on advanced characterization techniques.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Play a key role in scale-up, analysis and application of novel materials for the energy and environment application
  • Characterization of CO2-substrate interaction
  • Contribute in product trials, analysis of results, and recommend modification to procedures and chemical formulations
  • Performs highly complex analytical tasks requiring many steps, through planning and/or use of advanced and sophisticated equipment and instrumentation
  • Carry out lab experiments, data collection, and interpretation of analysis
  • Assists in training of non-professionals, especially in his area of experience. Within limits, consults with and advises people requiring help with specific technical problems
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to maintain high quality occupational health, safety, & working environment based on HSE rules and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
  • Minimum two (2) college or an Associate Degree in related-science major required; Bachelor’s degree preferred; M.S. degree highly desired
  • Nine (9) years industrial research lab experience; complete familiarity of standard laboratory practices
  • Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job as outlined; must have ability to make professionally effective presentations, both oral and writte
  • Experience in the area of spectroscopic and crystallographic techniques, handling of high pressure high temperature instruments are required
