2022 Summer PL Sales & Distribution Internship
The Personal Lines Sales & Distribution internship will rotate students through multiple sales disciplines over the course of the summer to develop a holistic perspective on the sales function and our Personal Lines growth levers. The scope of this internship will focus on active involvement in data analysis and process management as a way to enable tangible contributions while learning about the broader Sales function and corresponding skill sets.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn and engage in data analysis and data-related projects. Effectively interpret, manipulate, and use data to drive recommendations and/or to make a compelling case for change.
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM) work, including utilization of Salesforce.
- Develop and leverage reporting to reflect sales results, identify growth opportunities, and inform areas of focus for our sales teams.
- Regularly engage with Sales team members at all levels to learn the business, understand needs, and build context for the work being performed.
- Learn and participate in Lean Six Sigma problem solving activities and issue resolution processes. Support the Sales operation driving resolution of identified opportunity areas.
- Actively participate in Lean huddles through the Personal Lines Sales organization. Develop expertise relative to setting up, facilitating, and leveraging huddles to improve business performance.
- May include a capstone project: Identify an opportunity area within the Sales function, develop a solution to address the opportunity and present the proposal to the Personal Lines Sales executive leadership team for consideration.
- Collaborate with other interns throughout rotations and project participation.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Pursuit of undergraduate degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Marketing, Risk Management or Data Analytics preferred. Juniors preferred. Involvement in student activities and/or some work experience.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- The internship can be located in Des Moines, IA or Columbus, OH
- Full-time schedule (40 hours per week)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and virtual collaboration tools (i.e. Zoom, Teams, etc.)
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Aptitude for learning on the fly and dealing with ambiguity
