Micro-Internships, Economic Consulting (IAP - Alumnus Host)

NERA Economic Consulting is looking for six MIT students to work on economic consulting projects as full-time paid interns for all four weeks of IAP. Our work tends to cover economic and econometric analyses supporting in-house consulting or testifying experts in major ongoing litigations, regulatory actions, or corporate actions, analyzing issues such as market power in antitrust litigation and potential mergers, the effects of alleged fraud on the prices of traded securities, and determination of appropriate rates for regulated utilities. Interns typically work on platforms including Excel, SAS, Python, and Stata. Having a strong background in economics , econometrics, and/or coding has proven helpful to past interns. The specifics of the work will be determined during the internship, as interns will be working on live cases as part of a team ranging from new college graduates to senior staff with advanced degrees (generally a PhD in economics or Masters in economics or a related field). We are looking for three interns in our Securities and Finance practice, two in our Antitrust and Competition practice, and one in our Energy practice; please indicate which area(s) you are interested in and if you have any preferences. We are hoping that the internships will be in person in our New York City office, but they may be remote depending on obvious considerations.
