You will find us in all of the Boone county schools, Witham Pediatrics, Witham Pain Management, Sylvia’s Child Advocacy Center, Boone County Jail and several office locations throughout Lebanon. We also have offices in Frankfort, Crawfordsville and Zionsville.
SUMMARY: The Behavioral Health Therapist is responsible to provide initial assessments, therapy, and counseling and support services for a mixed case load including adults, adolescents, and families experiencing mental health issues, communication challenges, or family conflict.
DUTIES:
- Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment.
- Conduct outreach and referral activities in surrounding communities, including the Boone County schools, and human service agencies.
- Gather information about community mental health needs and resources that could be used in conjunction with therapy.
- Act as a client advocate to coordinate required services or to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
- Evaluate clients' mental condition based on review of client information, interviews, observation, tests, and collaboration with other staff members to perform clinical assessments and develop treatment plans.
- Conduct initial family assessments and refer patients, clients, or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary.
- Develop and implement person centered treatment plans.
- Guide clients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their problems.
- Encourage clients to express their feelings and discuss what is happening in their lives, and help them to develop insight into themselves and their relationships.
- Counsel clients, individually and in group sessions, to assist them in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes.
- Collaborate with families, school staff, probation officers, law enforcement, and others who are important to the treatment process.
- Discuss with individual patients their plans for life after leaving therapy.
- Provide collateral consultation as appropriate as well as court testimony as required.
- Submit billing and other related paperwork in a timely fashion.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of counseling programs and clients' progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives.
- Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports.
- Conduct activities related to compliance with federal and state laws related to mandated reporting, HIPAA.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or the agency Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s level and licensed eligible degree in Social Work or Psychology. Independent licensure as a LMFT, LCSW, LSW, LMHC-A, LMHC and others as qualified are encouraged to apply.
- Must maintain professional licensure and/or certification throughout employment.
- Must be able to work flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends on occasion.
- Must be able to work as a team member and cooperatively with County, community, and government entities.
- Must be a positive role model to staff, youth, families and community.
- Must have good written and oral communication skills, good organizational and time management skills.
- Must maintain agency, coworker, and client confidentiality and abide by Health Information Portability and Accountability Act.
