Business Intern-Hospitality Department

Position Summary:
Individual will be supporting the CEO in managing key areas of 3 individual departments that make up the greater Hospitality Department (Culinary, Maintenance, and Environmental Services). The position offers a great opportunity to develop leadership skills and management of employees within the department. This position will have direct involvement in performance management and setting expectations for staff in partnership with the CEO. Position is designed around a focus on gaining knowledge of the senior skilled nursing industry, budgetary oversight of the departments, staffing and HR oversight, as well as operational performance will be main focuses. Hands on experience and practical application will be acquired around accounting and budgetary performance reviews held in partnership with CEO.

state’s specific background check requirements prior to contact with patients/residents.


Qualifications/Education:
§ Currently Enrolled in University Courses
§ Preferred Education Programs, Career Track MBA, MBA, Executive MBA, or General Business Majors, as well as other business majors within the scope of College of Business and Economics.

Licenses/Certification:
§ Current valid driver’s license from the State in which the facility operates.

Experience:
§ One year of supervisory or leadership experience is preferred. (Experience can be gained through community groups, University Clubs, Volunteer Activities Etc.)

Essential Functions
§ Support in management of facilities, housekeeping and laundry department employees.
§ Provides oversight of regular training to employees to develop skills and competencies.
§ Ensure completion of regular maintenance and repair projects for the facility and its grounds.
§ Prepares department budget and monitors expenditure of funds in budget.
§ Recommends measures to improve operations and conditions within the departments.
§ Participates in the facility’s process improvement program(s).
§ Participate in candidate interviews with department supervisors when needing to employ new staff.
§ Partner with HR for staff development within departments.
§ Motivate and Lead

§ Performs other tasks as assigned.
§ Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the Company’s Code of Business Conduct, its policies and procedures, applicable federal and state laws, and applicable professional standards.
§ Learns and follows annual survey guidelines and regulations.

§ Skilled in directing and motivating the workforce.
§ Ability to communicate effectively with employees, contractors, residents and their family members, and at all levels of the organization.
