Job Title: EURēCA! Student Assistant in Biostatistics/Data Science

Job Location/AddressCU Anschutz/ Hybrid - Remote and In-Person

Purpose:
Our team members conduct all aspects of data analysis from data management to comprehensive reports and publication support. These projects are built from collaborations across the Anschutz Medical Campus with doctors and researchers with a wide-range of expertise. This work-study student will collaborate with faculty, staff and students on several data-driven projects and learn about all stages of working with data. This individual could also support the business side of projects. 

Position Description:
This student assistant will be involved in all aspects of research, including study design, data organization and checking, data analysis and formal reporting of results for publication. This individual may also assist with operations or data science.

Duties and Responsibilities:
This individual will conduct data cleaning, run summary statistics using statistical software (typically R or SAS) and generate tables and reports of statistical results. Other activities may include literature searches, running and summarizing computer simulations, and other aspects of supporting projects in the field of biostatistics and data science. This individual may be asked to support a wide range of projects such as supporting short-course offerings (free attendance) as well as center and project management duties.

Skills and Knowledge Gained:
The individual will gain statistical programming and reproducible research skills, as well as learn about how statistics are applied to a broad array of research projects; they will also deepen their communication, critical thinking, problem solving and team collaboration skills. This position will allow the opportunity to connect the student to people who work in a broad array of health fields.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completion of at least 1 undergraduate level introductory statistics course such as MATH 2830
  • Ability to use standard computer programs such as Excel, Word, or PowerPoint
  • Ability to multi-task (balancing work & school)
  • Strong work ethic
  • Willingness to learn and grow
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment as well and independently

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of statistical software
  • Previous research experience is beneficial but not required
  • Additional coursework in statistics such as MATH 4387 or MATH 4830

Additional Trainings:
HIPPA, additional trainings may be needed based on skills of applicant 

Position Commitment:
15 hours per week.
