We are seeking candidates who are eager to help the Journalism and Media office operate efficiently and achieve its mission. Students with prior experience working in a professional office environment are encouraged to apply.
GENERAL POSITION INFORMATION
· Title: Student Worker
· Employee Hourly Salary: $12/hr
WORKING HOURS
· Hours per week: 10-18 hours/week
· Work hours: Monday – Friday, flexible schedule
MISSION OF THE JOURNALISM AND MEDIA DEPARTMENT

As the eyes and ears of society, journalism seeks to discover what is going on in the world beyond people's doors and tells them about it. In doing so, journalism strives to reflect and transmit society’s values. The best journalism promotes public accountability of the powerful and encourages a well-informed citizenry.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
· Serve as front desk contact for student and faculty inquiries
· Distribute mail to department faculty and staff
· Assist Administrative Associate with event needs
· Tidy front office and staff lounge maintain front end inventory needs
· Maintain front end inventory needs and supplies closet
· Provide support and assistance as assigned
Qualifications
· High school graduation or GED
· Organizational skills
· Proficient with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
· Ability to handle multiple demands and tasks.
· Interpersonal and analytical skills.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Professional dress and demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications
· Able to work independently with little supervision and make sound decisions.
· Able to manage multiple conflicting deadlines.
· Experience in a customer service environment
