Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Intern
CNS Career Services at UT-Austin is currently seeking a graduate student intern that will focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion!
Purpose:
Focused on expanding CNS Career Services’ outreach to students who are BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, first-generation college students, students with disabilities, international students, undocumented students, students with low socioeconomic status, and additional marginalized populations. Ensure that the values of Career Services and Undergraduate Education are incorporated into the advising process, including student-centeredness, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities:
· Assist in the creation of an employer DEI toolkit to expand our employer's knowledge on recruiting and retaining diverse talent
· Create resources for employers focusing on how to create a workplace that provides inclusion and belonging to all employees
· Ensure communication (social media, website, etc.) is accessible for students of all backgrounds and promotes our commitment to equity and inclusion
· Keep diversity web pages of resources for diverse student populations up to date
· Identify barriers that prevent diverse student populations from getting the career assistance they need
· Create inclusive training materials for new CNS Career Services staff to learn how to support diverse student populations
· Propose new ideas for workshops and presentations to assist diverse student populations reach their internship and career goals
· Identify ways CNS Career Services can make unpaid internships and research opportunities more equitable across the college through scholarships, grants, or other opportunities
· Collaborate with offices across campus to learn what additional support diverse populations need and where we could provide this support during the student’s career education
Qualifications:
· Must be a graduate student enrolled in an accredited program pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. in education, counseling, psychology, higher education, social work, human resources, or a related field
· Commitment to making career education more equitable across the College of Natural Sciences
· Experience related to working with diverse student populations
· Independent self-starter with strong communication and writing skills
