Social Justice and Administrative Intern
Internship Requirements/Qualifications:
· Must be a Student seeking a degree in a social science or related field.
· Knowledge of Domestic Violence and systemic advocacy and a willingness to learn more about this topic
· A desire to learn about various aspects of the nonprofit realm
· A self-starter and able to be flexible with various tasks
· Willing to learn and work from a trauma informed model, and willing to learn about social justice advocacy on a local level
Internship description:
· Our Social Justice and Administration Intern will assist with special projects and events, as well as general administration such as:
· Community engagement
o Reaching out the community at large through:
speaking engagements, presenting for Domestic Violence awareness, educating the public about DVIP and our services
o Will do this by attending community events and representing DVIP-must be comfortable speaking with individuals about DVIP and our Services at community events
· Event Promotion and Preparation
o Writing, printing, designing mailings, or stuffing envelopes for upcoming events and announcements
o Tasks include:
-Picking up supplies, Recruiting volunteer assistance, Developing flyers for advertisement
· Legislative research
o Work with Community Engagement team in order to develop rapid response legislative campaigns through political advocacy when needed
· Other tasks
o Assisting with administrative needs in an office environment
o Work with other departments at DVIP on Social Justice campaigns and/or media campaigns
