Command Center Security Officer

Under general direction, the Command Center Officer provides security services before, during, and after Overture Center events and enforces all facility rules and policies and pertinent City Ordinances. The Command Center Officer is responsible for controlling access, monitoring cameras, secures the facility, and questions unauthorized personnel.
The Security Officer: Command Center’s purpose is to ensure: authorized access, access card distribution and control, facility monitoring, and security schedule coordination.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Staffs Command Center, controls access to the backstage area and performs related duties. Ensures artists, guests, and production staff are treated with respect and ensures privacy and security. Utilizes knowledge of building, policy, and relationships with staff to provide the highest level of customer service. Monitors security camera system. Distributes generic access cards and keys as directed and tracks card and key return. Accepts and monitors deliveries, vendor access, logs packages, and notifies staff. Enters access card information into the computer and takes photos. Track missing keys and cards. Gathers information for investigations. Communicates shift changes. Works with Director of Production or Technical Coordinator to advance day-of-show information. 
2. Enters information into software for payroll; coding billing for payment; VenueOps entry including closing work orders; entering schedule information in Google Docs; entering settlement information in Excel spreadsheets; and gathering show, event, and advance information together for event staff. 
3. Performs other duties as assigned, which may include but are not limited to: Providing front-of-house security for theater events; providing security for banquets, parties, meetings or other gatherings in various meeting rooms and theaters; sweeping theaters and rooms for explosive devices and other items that could harm the public. Secures backstage and other areas of the facility requiring controlled access for authorized personnel. Provides security for artists’ dressing rooms. Provides property protection and escort artists or special guests through public areas of the building and from building to vehicle when requested. Monitors entrance of stagehands and cast/crew. Challenges patrons or unauthorized personnel and stops unauthorized activities or actions. Provides back-up to Ushers and other facility staff when confronted by an uncooperative visitor. Ensures patron and guest enjoyment and sense of comfort while attending Overture Center events, providing the highest level of customer service including assisting with greeting, directions, and way finding. 
4. Performs other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to successfully perform this job.
Education:
High school diploma/GED
Current CPR/AED First Aid certification or ability to obtain CPR/AED First Aid certification preferred
Experience:
1 year of related professional, progressive experience in security services in the entertainment and/or hospitality industry, including the enforcement of rules and regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with large groups of people and to enforce rules and regulations
Ability to handle diverse circumstances and activities
Ability to deal effectively and communicate with customers of various age, socioeconomic, and ethnic groups
Ability to understand and carry out directions and procedures
Ability to learn computer operations applicable to the program area
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to rapidly climb stairs and to think clearly and act appropriately in an emergency
Ability to perform and maintain CPR/AED and First Aid certification
Ability to approach new things with curiosity and respect the perspectives of those with differing/ diverse identities.
Ability to learn and use hand-held or walk-through magnetometers or other detection devices as prescribed
 

Physical Effort and Working Conditions

The requirements and conditions described below are representative of the general environment the employee is exposed to on a day-to-day basis while performing this job.
Manual Dexterity:
Work requires moderate speed and accuracy in a broad range of motion. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Physical Effort:
Ability to perform high physical exertion on an occasional basis and moderate physical exertion on a frequent basis as needed; to verbally restrain combative patrons or visitors; and to walk, run, and sit or stand in a fixed position for extended periods of time
Equipment Used:
Computer and telephone. Two-way radio. First Aid, CPR, and AED equipment. Hand-held and walk-through magnetometers.
