BASIS is on a MISSION!
As a Subject Expert Teacher, you'll spend your time and energy on the one subject you are most knowledgeable and passionate about. You'll prepare one subject-focused lesson for the grade(s) you teach rather than 4 or 5 different lessons every day. This allows you to go deeper in your subject instruction, bring more creativity to your classroom and develop richer lessons that intrigue your students and ignite their interest.
While driven by the BASIS.ed core curriculum, SETs are given the freedom to do what they do best: inspire a love of learning in every child.
AS a SET, you handle the primary instruction in the classroom and are supported by a Learning Expert Teacher that assists with classroom management and student differentiation so your students are engaged and on task 100% of the time.
- SETs: BASIS Primary Subject Expert Teachers (SETs) are knowledgeable, passionate elementary teachers that believe that with the right support and encouragement, any child can excel. We hire elementary school teachers with academic degrees or an educational emphasis in the disciplines they teach. BASIS Elementary subject expert teachers are able to focus their teaching on a specific subject rather than preparing lessons for several subjects every day. They work collaboratively with Learning Expert Teachers (LETs) to cultivate a joyful learning culture where hard work is celebrated and where intellectual pursuits result in extraordinary student outcomes. At the elementary level, LETs help you focus on instruction while they customize education to meet the individual differentiation needs of each student. Subject Expert Teachers in the BASIS elementary model will have a specific focus in either Math and Science, Humanities and Language Arts, Mandarin, Engineering and Visual or Performing Arts. As a SET, it is primarily your responsibility to develop engaging, content-rich subject specific lesson plans and to teach creative thinking and problem solving.
