Assurance Intern- Fall 2022- Metairie

JOB OVERVIEW:
The Audit Intern-Fall 2022 position is designed to provide individuals currently pursuing either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting (or related field) with assignments that further their knowledge of the assurance function within a public accounting firm.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Masters in related field from an accredited College or University.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
  • Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism, ethical behavior, and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Must be able to demonstrate critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Must have a desire to learn and be flexible.
  • Must have excellent communication skills in business and technical environments.
  • Must demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the capability to professionally and appropriately communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, innovative, and continuously changing environment.
  • Must be computer literate with the capability of performing at an intermediate or advanced level with respect to the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word.  
  • Must work a minimum of 20 hours per week with a preference of 24 hours a week.
  • May periodically travel and work from different company and client locations.
  • Must be able to arrive at a P&N office (or client location) in a timely manner and be ready to perform job responsibilities.
  • Light to moderate levels of lifting, kneeling, bending, sitting and walking is required. Lifting requirements will not typically exceed 25 pounds. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Under direct supervision, participate on assigned audit engagements including performing self-review of work product.
  • Monitor workload and billable on a weekly basis.
  • Communicate with supervisor any obstacles or items of concern.
  • Stay current on firm policies.
  • Comply with the professional and Firm requirements (e.g., employee handbook requirements, time entry procedures), assurance quality control document requirements confidentiality requirements (e.g. client information, proposal information, personnel information, job related information, etc.)
  • Attend and actively engage in training sessions or meetings as required.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and be receptive to feedback.
  • If applicable, prepare for and take the CPA examination at every available opportunity.

 
Other Duties:
  • Provides courteous and prompt quality service to all internal and external parties. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional and cooperative manner.
  • Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance (e.g., procedure optimization).
  • Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Actively supports teamwork throughout the organization.
  • Performs other services as assigned.
