Join our Communications & Board Services Bureau

Here is your opportunity to work with our Communications section, gaining hands-on experience in three Public Relations disciplines including media relations, social media and internal communications. This internship opportunity is not eligible for remote work.  

For helping to maintain our valuable water resources as a student, we offer:

Compensation: $11.58 hourly


Essential Functions

  • Creating social media content
  • Writing news releases, blog posts and newsletter articles
  • Assisting with video productions
  • Assisting in writing and implementing communications plans
  • Assisting with public meetings and events
  • Media monitoring
  • Learning website basics and more

Working Conditions

Work activity is primarily sedentary with ability to perform continuous repetitive tasks (to include keyboarding) with one or both hands. This position requires the ability to lift and carry objects up to 20 pounds. Must be able to frequently bend and reach above shoulder level. Must be able to operate automotive vehicle for 2 hours or more at a time. Work environments vary by assigned business unit. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Required Credentials for Communications & Board Services Student Intern

  • Be at least part-time and currently enrolled in High school, an accredited college, university, or other recognized educational or vocational program
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students or minimum GPA of 3.0 for graduate students
  • Upload Unofficial Transcript to application or profile
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Credentials for Communications & Board Services Student Intern

  • Preferred Degrees: Public Relations or Communications
  • Preferred Degree Level: Undergraduate

The District will determine eligibility for employment solely from the information provided on a District employment application. Additional Details

This position is typically scheduled to work no more than 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, out of the Tampa, FL office, as class schedule permits. Work will be conducted inside of the office for enhanced learning opportunities.
