Early Head Start and Head Start Substitute Teacher

South Central Community Action Program (SCCAP) is seeking Substitute Teachers for our Early Head Start and Head Start program in Monroe County. SCCAP is a non-profit social service agency that works to provide opportunities for low-income individuals and families to achieve personal and economic independence.
As a Head Start Substitute Teacher, you will assist teachers to ensure successful operation of a classroom. You will be called upon when needed and will be asked to work at various locations throughout the Head Start areas of operation. You will be responsible for ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of the children in the program by helping create an environment which fosters the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child in your care. You will contribute to SCCAP and the broader community we serve by working with our youngest participants and help them prepare for success in school and life. 
This work is right for you if you have:
  • An interest in the well-being and education of young children, enthusiasm, patience, good humor, good judgment, and a good spirit
  • Some prior early childhood experience
  • The ability to clearly communicate and effectively listen to children, parents/guardians, members, and other SCCAP associates
