Associate Data Analyst
General Description
The Associate Data Analyst works as part of a team focused on meeting data needs on an enterprise level. This role balances data analysis with a firm understanding of business requirements to support data and engineering solutions. This requires working with, understanding, and integrating a variety of types of financial data to guide developers and IT staff and to deliver new data directly to business users. This role interacts with multiple areas of the firm, and works closely with project managers, business users, engineers, and data vendors.
Primary Responsibilities
- Analyze and apply special research, data analysis, and data samples to facilitate informed decisions making and successful project completion
- Assist in the evaluation of data quality and integration and its impact on business processes across multiple facets of the business
- Perform ad hoc query writing, data manipulation and organization to support projects, initiatives, and data quality
- Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation
- Assist in the support of cross-functional teams on the day-to-day execution of projects and initiatives
- Determine the best source of data in the system, validate data quality, and understand the relationship of data to other data, and trace data through the system
- Analyze problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context, gather requirements, and communicate findings
- Learn and understand a broad range of Parametric’s data resources and assist in the creation of documentation
Job Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance, Technology or related field strongly preferred
- 0-2 years of experience working with investments, market data, or corporate actions
- Proficient in MS Excel
- Preferred experience in: Bloomberg Terminal Functions, MS SQL Server Management Studio, ETL
- Demonstrate strength in critical thinking to help recommend solutions, requires an analytical and thoughtful approach to work and making decisions
- Strong team player and ultimately focused on delivering results with high standards
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment
