Peer Advisors are an integral part of the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs. Peer Advisors serve as advocates for the students. They connect the students through referrals by conferring with staff and campus resources. They also provide academic, social, diverse/cultural programming and office support.
·      $9.00 per hour 
·      Hours per week: Approximately 6-8 hours per week 
·      Reports to the OMSA Program Associate

High Impact Practice (HIP) Statement 
By incorporating classroom learning into hands-on work experiences as well as providing supervision and coaching, students gain necessary tools to grow and contribute as professionals. 
Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
·      Demonstrate initiative in situations when challenges occur
·      Create and implement academic, social or diverse/cultural programs
·      Be knowledgeable about campus/community resources and refer students to staff and/or resources (as needed)
Oral and Written Communication
·      Effective interaction and communication with students, staff, faculty, customers and the public
·      Create messaging for OMSA Newsletter
·      Provide exceptional customer service
Digital Technology
·      Use Outlook Calendar, Staff Email and Video Conferencing
·      Generate Ideas and Create Social Media Posts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc)
Career Management
·      Attend leadership workshops/conferences and other professional development opportunities such as examples below:
AMSLC (Spring)(When offered); Multicultural Professional Day (Fall)
·      Demonstrate initiative in situations when challenges occur
·      Assess priorities and project deadlines
·      Manage day-to-day responsibilities with limited supervision
·      Demonstrate responsibility following opening/closing procedures
Professionalism/Work Ethic
·      Attend trainings, staff meetings and one on one meetings 
·      Provide input and ideas, collaborate and complete task in a timely and professional manner
·      Present professional presence in the office and throughout campus as a Peer Advisor and staff member in the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs
·      Complete weekly work logs and other paperwork needed 
·      Complete 1 performance evaluation per semester with supervisor
·      Promote diversity through the attendance and support of OMSA programs
·      Maintain confidentiality
·      Perform other duties as assigned
Team Work/Collaborations
·      Work independently or with team members to efficiently accomplish assigned tasks
·      Practice and develop strong teamwork and collaboration skills through the many programs and services the office provides throughout the year
·      Liaison to student organizations
Global /Intercultural Fluency
·      Interact with a diverse community of faculty, staff, co-workers and students of all cultures, races, ages, genders, sexual orientations and religions
Required Qualifications:
·      Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5
·      Strong interpersonal skills and high level of professionalism
·      Must have excellent customer service skills
·      Must have flexible schedule
·      Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior in good standing with the university
