This position is paid minimum wage, working approximately 20 hours per week, and is expected to run from May to November 2021. The qualified candidates will have a passion for research and a desire to work in public history, museums, library sciences and/or public media. Candidates must be currently enrolled in an educational program related to history, mass communications, journalism, library sciences or other job-related field.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Under the guidance of our History Production team, research and participate in community engagement of diverse histories with a concentration on the Latino|a|x experience in Minnesota
  • Learn and support media asset acquisition, including scanning and organizing media assets (still photos & footage)
  • Provide archival research, including video archives, personal collections, online assets, library archives and others as needed
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as database entry, paperwork/digital filing, and general support
  • On-the-job experience supporting our outreach, marketing, and community engagement needs
  • Design and facilitate a presentation for funding partners outlining research work and accomplishments of the internship experience
  • Potential field production experience including collecting releases during shoots and media logging (dependent on COVID-19 safety precautions)
  • Participate in internal networking sessions to gain a broader perspective of Twin Cities PBS and our work

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Enrolled in a higher education program and working toward a degree in history, mass communications, media/journalism, library sciences or other job-related field
  • Keen interest in archival and content research
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities
  • Able to successfully handle details with accuracy in a fast-paced, multi-client setting
  • Ability to work remotely due to current TPT COVID-19 precautions
  • Strong organizational skills and time management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and prior experience with video production editing, Adobe Premiere Pro CC is preferred, but not required
  • Experience using social media for content creation
  • A valid driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation for offsite needs related to the position
