Associate Professor: 36,127-40,189RMB (with the opportunity to go to 42,705RMB based on future annual performance and evaluations after being in the post)
Professor: above 50,039 RMB/month (with the opportunity to go to 55,358 RMB/month based on future annual performance and evaluations after being in post)

UNIVERSITY AND DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:
Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) is a unique collaborative institution and the first joint-venture university in China to offer both UK (University of Liverpool) and Chinese (Ministry of Education) accredited undergraduate degrees for all programmes. Formed in 2006, the first cohort of students graduated in August 2010. The University now has almost 15,000 students studying on campus. The language of instruction is English. XJTLU aims to become truly research-led, and has recently committed significant investment into research development and the expansion of PhD student numbers on campus.
XJTLU is located in the Higher Education Town of Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP). Suzhou has been ranked the 74th most liveable city in the 2018 Global Liveability Index. Additionally, it is well-connected via nearby airports to cities such as Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo, and Taipei, and via high-speed rail to other major cities in China. SIP is a major growth zone, including operations run by nearly one-fifth of the Fortune 500 top global companies. Greater Suzhou is now the fourth largest concentration of economic activity in China in terms of GDP, and the SIP has a higher GDP per capita than the UK. The broader Suzhou area encompasses the spirit of both old and new in China, with the historic old town’s canals, UNESCO World Heritage Site gardens, and the I.M. Pei-designed Suzhou Museum attracting millions of tourists annually. SIP offers an excellent quality of life with high environmental standards. The nearby Jinji Lake provides attractive views, by day and by night, and there is a variety of shopping facilities, international and local restaurants, entertainment hubs and nightlife. Suzhou is also home to four international schools.
ILEAD is a unique and leading centre for education innovation, development, and education of educators (degree programmes) in education globally. Its key customers include XJTLU students, XJTLU staff, as well as local, regional, national and international educational practitioners and institutions. The main business of ILEAD includes:

Roles & Responsibilities:
Applications are invited for the Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor position in the disciplinary topic of child development and family education with the Institute of Leadership and Education Advanced Development (ILEAD) at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, a joint venture established in 2006 by the University of Liverpool, UK and Xi’an Jiaotong University, China.
We are looking for future colleagues from candidates in all the fields of language and cognitive psychology; developmental psychology; social psychology, family education and counseling; psychological measurement and research methodology; or other relevant fields who can:
• Embrace innovative, interactive, student-centered learning, teaching, and assessment approaches.
• Understand and have an innovative spirit and transformational approach in education, in line with the ethos of XJTLU and ILEAD.
• Deliver high-quality teaching to graduate students, have a track record in teaching and evaluation as examples.
• Supervise postgraduate students in thesis and dissertation.
• Conduct high-quality research and be able to evidence the ability or potential to produce high-quality research publications.
• Provide administrative services as expected at all levels to the School, the University, and its stakeholders, and support extra-curricular activities for students, staff, and discipline as expected.
• Demonstrate appropriate professional experience.
• Perform all other duties assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Qualifications:
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
• Applicants with a terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D., EdD) from a wide range of areas, including language and cognitive psychology; developmental psychology; social psychology, family education and counseling; psychological measurement and research methodology; or other relevant areas, are welcome.
• Fluent in English.
Lecturer
• Teaching experience at the postgraduate level, particularly on master's degree programmes.
• Able to work in a diverse and dynamic environment where a cross team or department collaboration is encouraged.
Associate Professor
• Rich teaching experience at the postgraduate level, particularly on master’s degree programmes.
• Proficient in working in a diverse and dynamic environment where a cross team or department collaboration is encouraged.
Professor
• High quality and innovative teaching experiences at postgraduate level, particularly on master’s degree programmes.
• Proficient in working in a diverse and dynamic environment where a cross team or department collaboration is encouraged.
Required Competencies and Skills:
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Lecturer
• A track record in research on language and cognitive psychology; developmental psychology; social psychology, family education and counseling; psychological measurement and research methodology; or related areas is preferred.
• Practical experiences working with children and families are desirable.
Associate Professor and above
• An international collaborative research profile in language and cognitive psychology; developmental psychology; social psychology, family education and counseling; psychological measurement and research methodology; or related areas and a successful record of research funding are preferred.
• Strong track record in teaching and academic supervision.
• Substantial practical experiences working with children and families are desirable.
• Strong connections with scholars and practitioners in the field and taking a leadership role at professional associations nationally and/or internationally.
• A strong track record in designing and delivering education programmes, executive coaching, and management consulting for educational institutions and practitioners are also desirable.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE:
Members of Academic Staff are entitled to subsidies for accommodation, travel, and children’s education, medical insurance, and a one-time relocation allowance is provided. Overseas staff may receive a tax “holiday,” depending on nationality and personal circumstances.
CITIZENSHIP AND VISA REGULATIONS:
Employment at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University is regulated by Chinese Labour Laws, and must be comply with the regulations with the provincial government. These regulations stipulate who is eligible for legal employment with regard to obtaining work permits and visas.
