Director of Development - Scripted TV

Westbrook Studios is searching for a Director of Development focused on scripted TV. This role will work hand in hand with the SVP, Head of Scripted TV, to build our slate of development projects. The ideal candidate is both a strong creative and business leader with the proven ability to work collaboratively within specific genres, solving day to day creative problems as well as supporting broader strategic and production conversations.

The ideal candidate must have a track record of building relationships externally and internally across departments with key stakeholders Experience and a strong curiosity from a business perspective of creatively interfacing departments including research, marketing, operations, business affairs, legal, finance and ad sales is strongly encouraged. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Responsible for developing new scripted programming in partnership with the Head of Scripted TV
  • Discover and work with emerging and existing writer / producer talent
  • Research new topics and ideas
  • Buyer landscape knowledge / buyer relationships

REQUIREMENTS 
  • 5+ years of series development experience
  • A minimum of 2 years at senior creative executive level within scripted television
  • Must have experience with program development
  • Knowledge of development and writer relationships
  • Creative thinker with a passion for television
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Positive, proactive and able to consistently exercise great judgment
  • A proven track record for driving high performance content and growth 
  • Bachelor's degree and/or graduate degree or applicable industry experience in lieu of degree
