Practicum Student to Support Metrics of Child Wellbeing and Data Dashboard (remote/flexible)

Village Vital Signs: Supporting a Data Dashboard of Metrics of Child Wellbeing and Community Assets
We have a publicly accessible data dashboard focused on indicators of child wellbeing and promoting health and educational equity. We are seeking a dedicated student intern to assist with designing and implementing shared community-level metrics for child well-being, family, and community wellness using existing data sources [311 data, housing data, eviction data, child protective services data, and census tract measures]. Our current focus is housing and health. The role will also involve engaging in dialogue with community partners, and helping to disseminate data and findings.
* Supports design, development, updating, and dissemination of web-based dashboard for community resident advocacy and action to promote health equity and child wellbeing.
 * Modifies dashboard design and content based upon input/feedback from network partners and community residents.
Student Qualifications
Proficient in R programming, ArcGIS, ArcMAP, SAS
Demonstrated ability to conduct geospatial analysis, GIS mapping
Experience using geocoded data, census data
Experience with data cleaning and organizing
Experience with HTML, JavaScript preferred
Able to work independently and report in a timely manner and seek help when needed

Strong communication skills
Hours: 10-15 hours per week. Flexible
Vital Village is a community engagement network to improve child wellbeing. The central goal of Vital Village Network is to seed sustainable and scalable community change around child protection by mobilizing a collective investment from residents, community organizations (CBOs) and institutions using a strengths-based and trauma-informed paradigm.
