Position Summary:  
This position functions as the Bureau of Technical Services Materials Lab Engineer. The engineer in this position will require knowledge of ASTM and AASHTO test procedures dealing with aggregates, soils, asphalt binder, and asphaltic mixtures. Knowledge of AASHTO laboratory accreditation procedures, policies and requirements is required, as well as directing lab staff in the maintenance and upkeep of laboratory testing equipment, including maintenance, calibration, updates and general upkeep.
As a materials lab engineer you will lead identification and implementation of laboratory testing process improvements. As well as providing technical guidance and expertise for the testing, production, and placement of aggregate and asphaltic mix on construction and maintenance projects. This position leads small groups of industry and department staff in the development and implementation of aggregate, asphaltic mixture, and pavement construction specifications.

Qualifications:   

A qualified candidate at the Senior level will have ALL of the following:

4-year degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited University, EIT Credential, or Professional Engineer (PE) credential.
At least 3 years of experience in construction and materials engineering related to Transportation. (This experience can be from academia, research, field/production work, or a combination)

A qualified candidate at the advanced level will have:
