Job Overview
Crop scouting is the best way to learn about agriculture in an active hands on experience. You will learn about the diversity of agricultural practices and how that can impact a grower’s crop. A large part of this experience will be identifying weeds, pest, diseases and growth stages and creating recommendations to treat field issues. You will be responsible for communicating with your growers and supervisors to organize scouting and applications with branch managers. This is a great opportunity for anyone who sees a future in agriculture and would like to explore the complex system of agronomy.
Responsibilities and Duties
Identifying pests, insects, weeds, and diseases in corn and soybean fields.
Writing reports to farmers and coworkers
Determining the right timing for applications of herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides.
Qualifications
Education Level: Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior standing
Major: Any Agriculture Major
o Including, but not limited to: Plant Science, Agricultural Business, Agricultural
Systems Management, etc.
