Community Impact Internship (Center for Community Engagement)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program allows students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage. Due to COVID-19, we are currently planning for each of our internships to take place virtually. Housing assistance may be provided on a case by case basis after internship positions are offered. Undergraduate students are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 31, 2021 to August 6, 2021. The application is due February 14, 2021.

Please contact utlei@austin.utexas.edu with questions.

*Undergraduate students must be enrolled in the Spring 2021 semester to be eligible.

The Office

The Center for Community Engagement serves as The University of Texas at Austin’s central resource for those interested in volunteerism and service-learning throughout the UT and Austin communities. Our continued goal is to connect the resources of the university to the community to meet community priorities. We provide resources for anyone interested in getting more involved in the community, and our programs and services are designed for instructors, students, student organizations, campus departments, community partners, and local agencies.

The Position

This position will support telling the story of John S Chase, the first black graduate of the School of Architecture at The University of Texas at Austin, who designed the new off-campus location of the Center for Community Engagement. Depending on experience and interest, this intern would create a virtual tour of the neighborhood in East Austin, collect and write about the history of the building itself, assist with the fundraising campaign to finish renovations on the building, build up content for the website and social media, write feature stories on a topic related to the building or John S Chase, and assist with planning fall welcome events. All CCE interns serve on a committee, typically planning events like our annual volunteer fair, Tower Awards, or any of our days of service.
