JH Science Teacher - No teaching license required

General Purpose: The General Science teacher is responsible for developing students’ academic excellence and virtue by creating a positive culture of inquiry and learning and providing students with challenging and meaningful learning activities and experiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Demonstrates subject matter knowledge
- Intermediate knowledge of biology, chemistry, physics, earth/space science, and related mathematics
- Safety issues related to science labs and investigations
- Methods of research in the sciences, including laboratory and research techniques and the use of associated technology
- History and philosophy of science
Plans curriculum and instruction
Delivers effective instruction
Manages classroom climate and operation
Promotes achievement
Meets professional responsibilities
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in science field, with at least 36 semester hours in science courses
Colorado teaching license is not required
Experience:
Prior teaching experience preferred, but is not required
Salary Range:
$35,000 per year, based on ESSA qualifications; eligible for merit pay up to $2,000.
