Title III English Language Acquisition Coordinator(Job Id 15483)

The purpose of Title III is to help ensure that English learners, including Immigrant children and youth, attain English language proficiency and meet the same standards that all children are expected to meet.
Title III Required Activities:
  • Increasing the English language proficiency of ELS by providing effective language instructional education programs (LIEPs)/ELD programs that have successfully demonstrated increasing English language proficiency and academic achievement.
  • Providing effective professional development to classroom teachers, principals and other school leaders, administrators, and other school or community-based organizational personnel that relates directly to the instruction of ELs that support their linguistic, academic, and social-emotional challenges and opportunities of ELs.
  • Providing and implementing other effective activities and strategies that enhance or supplement LIEPS/ELD programs for ELs. These activities and strategies must include parent, family, and community engagement activities, but may also include strategies that coordinate and align related programs. 
The Ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor’s degree and experience in K-12 education
The ideal candidate will also have experience with English learner programs (ESL) and have passion for working with diverse students.
Knowledge of:
  • best practices for implementing effective English learner program;
  • federal civil rights requirements of English learner programs;
  • second language acquisition;
  • the functions of a state educational agency and related processes;
  • rules and laws pertaining to education;
  • state and National trends in education;
  • English as a second language education standards and curriculum.
Ability to:
  • develop and maintain professional relationships with coworkers, English learner school coordinators, and other education contacts;
  • deal tactfully, collaboratively, and effectively with program directors and staff, program administrators, and the public;
  • communicate information clearly and concisely:
  • write and edit a variety of forms, reports, and informational materials;
  • serve as a representative in a diverse and changing educational environment;
  • speak before groups;
  • develop in-service workshops for program staff, administrators, school districts, and the public;
  • ability to prioritize;
  • ability to interpret and analyze federal rules and regulations;
  • ability to analyze data;
  • work both independently and within groups with ability to problem solve and build consensus;
  • review and/or develop and manage a budget;
  • assist programs with outreach for family engagement.
Skill to:
  • strong organizational skills;
  • multitask;
  • use Microsoft systems;
  • work independently and as part of a team.
