Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic
This position is located on one of three shifts in the Industrial Equipment Section, Plant Engineering Division, US Mint, Denver. Incumbent installs, maintains, trouble analyzes, rebuilds, overhauls, modifies, aligns, and calibrates complex integrated electronic equipment and electrical systems (computer, security-and fire-systems, data lines) and indicating and recording systems on industrial coin production machinery and mechanical systems.
The following are the duties of this position at theĀ GS-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
- Repair, trouble analyze, modify, calibrate, align, program, and install complex systems, i.e., AMP line, security and fire systems, programmable computers, controls for coin presses, numerically controlled machines (coin counters), etc., and solid state controls.
- Rebuild, overhaul, modify, install, maintain, and test complex electronic equipment systems for sensing and control. To include, but are not limited to: multiple axis numerically controlled machine tools (machining centers), computer programmable controlled coin press monitoring systems, internal and external security systems, electronic weighing systems, automated packaging systems, and electronic communication systems.
- Coordinate with technical and professional personnel on matters affecting operating specifications, development of new control or instrumentation systems, changes to equipment systems and their modifications.
- Evaluate circuitry interrelationships, interactions, and interconnections of assemblies and systems.
- Replace defective wiring, relays, selectors, automatic control circuits, electronic sensing systems, industrial timing systems and machine safety, and control interlock systems.
