UT Outpost Internship (Student Emergency Services)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program allows students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage. Due to COVID-19, many of our internships are moving to a virtual format EXCEPT for this one. This internship will still be in person. Housing assistance may be provided on a case by case basis after internship positions are offered. Undergraduate students are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 31, 2021 to August 6, 2021. The application is due February 14, 2021.

Please contact utlei@austin.utexas.edu with questions.

*Undergraduate students must be enrolled in the Spring 2021 semester to be eligible.

The Office
Through individualized consultation, Student Emergency Services provides assistance, intervention, and referrals to support students navigating challenging or unexpected issues that impact their well-being and academic success. Our office helps students and their families during difficult or emergency situations. Assistance includes outreach, advocacy, intervention, support, and referrals to relevant campus and community resources.  In coordination with the Office of the Dean of Students, our team has launched a food pantry and a career closet to make sure every Longhorn has access to both food and fresh produce and access to professional clothes for job and internship interviews. Emergencies and financial hardships can interfere with student success beyond the classroom, and this program will serve as an additional resource for students.

The Project
The intern will help oversee the operations of the UT Outpost as it addresses food insecurity and supports students impacted by financial hardships. They will primarily focus on both the food pantry's and career closet's day-to-day operations.
