Administrative Office Internship (Counseling and Mental Health Center)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program 
 
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program allows students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage. Due to COVID-19, we are currently planning for each of our internships to take place virtually. Housing assistance may be provided on a case by case basis after internship positions are offered. Undergraduate students are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 31, 2021 to August 6, 2021. The application is due February 14, 2021.

The Office

The Counseling and Mental Health Center Administrative Office manages the behind-the-scenes operations for the center and supports directors, administrators and clinicians by ensuring they are equipped with the tools to accomplish the center’s mission of serving UT diverse student population and contributing to their academic success. 

The Project

The intern will be a team member in the administrative office that manages day-to-day operations at the Counseling & Mental Health Center. The intern will have a unique opportunity to work as an Administrative Office Team member on special projects this summer. They will contribute and utilize their knowledge of and experience with current online technologies and virtual platforms to inform and streamline transition of our processes to virtual systems. The intern will redesign and revamp administrative-support functions into virtually-interactive systems, including inventory, clinical staff lending library, CMHC forms and other processes.

Things You’ll Do

  • Review regularly-purchased items to create an online inventory database for ordering supplies, tracking prices, purchases, stock and order dates. 
  • Create a digital library database and checkout system for the clinical staff lending library, which includes clinical-training and continuing-education books and materials. 
  • Create and revise CMHC forms, including clinical forms provided to students. 
  • Research online platforms and technology to create and design databases. 
  • Use creativity to reimagine routine processes as interactive systems. 
  • Participate in professional-workplace mentorship conversations with supervisor. 
  • Attend weekly Administrative Office Team planning meetings. 
  • Participate in and occasionally lead team professional-development trainings. 
  • Participate in all required Division of Student Affairs Internship Program cohort activities and assessments. 

Who You Are (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Skilled in technology and graphic design 
  • Skilled in creating and managing spreadsheets and forms, and understanding data 
  • Experience creating databases preferred 
  • Prior student leadership and/or employment experience highly preferred
