Residence Life Internship - Student Staff Training (University Housing and Dining)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program 
 
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program allows students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage. Due to COVID-19, we are currently planning for each of our internships to take place virtually. Housing assistance may be provided on a case by case basis after internship positions are offered. Undergraduate students are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 31, 2021 to August 6, 2021. The application is due February 14, 2021.

The Office

The Office of Residence Life, housed in University Housing and Dining, believes living on campus is about more than sharing a room. It's about building community. These campus residence halls support learning and growth outside the classroom with individual support, special programs and unique learning environments.

The Project

The Student Staff Training intern will be a team member on the committee that designs and shapes centralized resident assistant training. The intern will attend all Student Staff Training and Development Committee meetings. They will inform and provide insight into curriculum and structure of the training. They will specifically work with organizing Canvas, assisting with assessment, and creating reports.

Things You’ll Do

  • Serve as a team member on the committee that designs and shapes centralized resident assistant training
  • Attend all Student Staff Training and Development Committee meetings
  • Inform and provide insight into curriculum and structure of the training
  • Organize Canvas
  • Assist with assessment
  • Create reports
  • Participate in all required Division of Student Affairs Internship Program cohort activities and assessments

Who You Are (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Undergraduate student classification 
  • Skilled in event management
  • Skilled in understanding and managing spreadsheets and data 
  • Prior student leadership and/or employment experience highly preferred
