Infection Prevention and Research Internship (University Health Services - Administration)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program 
 
The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program allows students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage. Due to COVID-19, we are currently planning for each of our internships to take place virtually. Housing assistance may be provided on a case by case basis after internship positions are offered. Undergraduate students are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 31, 2021 to August 6, 2021. The application is due February 14, 2021.

The Office

The University Health Services (UHS) provides medical care and patient education to students at The University of Texas at Austin. The mission of UHS is to provide healthcare and public health leadership to support students in reaching their optimal health so they can achieve their academic and personal potential. 

The Position

The intern will review standardized practices for infection prevention and safety in the healthcare setting. The student will assess environmental cleaning practices in the healthcare setting and develop quality improvement initiatives. The intern will assist in developing a written pandemic plan for the healthcare setting.

Things You’ll Do

  • Review standardized practices for infection prevention and safety in the healthcare setting
  • Assess environmental cleaning practices in the healthcare setting
  • Develop quality improvement initiatives
  • Assist in developing a written pandemic plan for the healthcare setting
  • Participate in all required Division of Student Affairs Internship Program cohort activities and assessments

  • Interested in a career in the medical field.  
  • Research and written communication skills
