Quantitative Analyst

RTI’s Center for Health Analytics, Media, and Policy (CHAMP) has an opening for a bachelor’s-level Quantitative Analyst position in the Research Triangle Park, NC office. The program conducts contract and grant funded work in health policy, public health, and health economics, with a primary focus on tobacco-related research. The successful applicant will play a role in the application of a variety of health policy, statistics, and economic research methods in support of projects that evaluate the impact of state and federal tobacco control programs and policies, counter-tobacco media campaigns, and other behavioral health interventions. Candidates with excellent quantitative skills are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities:
 
  • Conduct quantitative analyses on a range of projects for federal, state, and local governmental and non-profit clients.
  • Support evaluations of public health policies, media campaigns, behavioral health programs, and community interventions.
  • Assist in the creation of scientific publications and technical reports by providing research support for senior staff.
  • Code, clean, and manage datasets using statistical software including Stata, Excel, R, Python, and/or SAS.
  • Implement statistical models to perform econometric and statistical analyses under the direction of senior staff.
  • Prepare data visualizations including tables, dashboards, and charts; write sections of reports.
  • Review the health, economics, and social science literatures to identify specific findings.
  • Compile meeting notes and manage basic project correspondence.
Qualifications - External
 
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • BA/BS in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science or other quantitative health, public policy, or social science field required. Spring 2021 graduates will be considered. 
  • Quantitative research experience or course work in applied economics/econometrics or other quantitative health, public policy, or social science field required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required; proficiency in SQL is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Stata or similar statistical software, such as SAS or R, is required; proficiency in other programming software and applications such as Python or Qualtrics is a plus; an original code sample will be requested.
  • Exemplary oral, written, and inter-personal communication skills; a writing sample will be requested.
  • Ability to manage tasks for multiple project directors simultaneously.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.
