Human Resources Internship (University Housing and Dining - Human Resource)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program allows students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage. Due to COVID-19, we are currently planning for each of our internships to take place virtually. Housing assistance may be provided on a case by case basis after internship positions are offered. Undergraduate students are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 31, 2021 to August 6, 2021. The application is due February 14, 2021.

The Office

The Human Resources office within Housing and Dining (UHD) provides support to over 1,200 full and part-time staff. UHD operates its own residence life, dining, business, custodial, maintenance, and information systems departments. 

The Project

The UHD Human Resources Intern will be provided an opportunity to work alongside HR professionals and learn about the recruitment processes. The intern will gain understanding of the full recruitment life cycle including; reviewing job descriptions, posting requisitions, reviewing hiring materials, and assisting with pre-onboarding steps.

Things You’ll Do

  • Review job descriptions and posting requisitions
  • Review hiring materials
  • Assist with pre-onboarding steps
  • Participate in all required Division of Student Affairs Internship Program cohort activities and assessments 

Who You Are (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Business, or related field 
  • High attention to detail 
  • High level of integrity and strict adherence to protecting confidential information 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
