Multimedia Internship (Office of Sorority & Fraternity Life)

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program

The Division of Student Affairs Internship Program allows students to spend a summer handling a special project for the university designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Interns will work 19 hours per week for 10-weeks. These part-time internship positions offer a competitive compensation package that includes an hourly wage. Due to COVID-19, we are currently planning for each of our internships to take place virtually. Housing assistance may be provided on a case by case basis after internship positions are offered. Undergraduate students are eligible to apply. The internship runs from May 31, 2021 to August 6, 2021. The application is due February 14, 2021.

The Office

Sorority and Fraternity Life (SFL) is an area in the Office of the Dean of Students that provides students in sororities and fraternities with support and advisement as leadership opportunities and developmental programming to enhance their educational experience. The SFL staff serve as liaisons between the university and the six governing councils- the Interfraternity Council (IFC), the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), the Texas Asian Pan-Hellenic Council (TAPC), the Multicultural Greek Council, the Latino Pan-Hellenic Council (LPHC), the University Panhellenic Council (UPC), and sororities and fraternities that are part of our affiliate program.

The Position

The multimedia intern will design and curate content for use within social media, website, email, and newsletters. The student will have the opportunity to research best practices of the utilization of technology in other SFL communities from different higher education institutions. The internship will provide an experience for the student to produce original content as a resource for SFL and collaborate with supervisor for idea development, updates and troubleshooting.

Things You’ll Do

  • Create modules explaining SFL programs, policies and services
  • Curate, compose and publish content for use within area social media, website, newsletter
  • Research other higher education institutions and gather best practices for utilizing technology within the SFL community 
  • Producing original content as a resource for SFL
  • Meet with supervisor for ideation, updates and troubleshooting 
  • Participate in all required Division of Student Affairs Internship Program cohort activities and assessments
 

Who You Are (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Comfortable with the use of technology 
  • The ability to provide excellent customer service 
  • The ability to communicate effectively with staff, students and guest
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Competent in software such as Avid, Premiere, Final Cut Pro, iMovie, etc
  • Working knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
