INTERN: Blog Writer for InsideRec, the URI Campus Recreation Blog
SUMMARY OF POSITION - SPRING SEMESTER
The Department of Campus Recreation is offering internships for those interested in Journalism and Blog Writing. InsideRec Blog is a comprehensive blog that focuses on the health and well-being options that Campus Recreation provides as well as featured trending topics that impact campus life. Topics include fitness, nutrition, wellness, inspiration, campus life, holiday, and more. Working with the Marketing Team, this internship focuses on planning and writing weekly blogs that will have a positive impact on student life.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Exhibit a passion for promoting well-being
- Excellent customer service/member engagement skills
- Excellent communication, writing, and human relations skills-- ability to engage in conversation and relate to peers and faculty/ staff
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Communication and problem-solving skills required.
- Social media proficiency preferred.
EXPECTED HOURS: Students must be available to work 8 hours a week, producing 2 written blog entries per week, gathering photo and other visual content for blogs, and meeting with the marketing/blog team for planning.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Engage in activities to provide comprehensive blog articles
· Write relative blog articles within the themes
· Travel on-campus organization’s meetings to promote wellness and nutrition programming as required
· Work with marketing staff to provide social media posts for promoting the blog
· Be an ambassador for Campus Recreation programs and services
· Work closely with RecWell, Wellness, Intramural Sports, Club Sports and Sailing teams to promote overall well-being
· Attend Campus Recreation All Staff training, virtual or in-person
CERTIFICATIONS AND TRAINING: Much of the training for this position is offered on the job and is conducted by full-time Pro Staff and Student Leaders. In addition to the initial on-boarding provided to all employees, InsideRec blog interns are expected to:
• Attend department-wide and program/facility-specific ongoing training/workshops, that
are offered throughout the time of employment
