What Are Your Responsibilities? – Job Purpose
The role will be supporting a high-profile project that is a main initiative of senior management at the organization. The position will be engaged in a robust training program to learn our mainframe technology, COBOL, and follow a development action plan that challenges them to reach proficiency in a year.
In this role, you will be responsible for full cycle development, with a focus on maintaining critical existing mainframe applications. You will have the opportunity to leverage your knowledge of programming languages and methodologies to make a strong impact on the business.
In addition, HCSC has a learning culture and developers are encouraged to continuously explore new technologies and develop their skills.
What Do You Need to Be Successful? – Job Responsibilities

-Contribute to product feature prioritization and technology roadmaps.
Traditional Development
-Design, build and unit test highly scalable applications.
-Provide maintenance support to applications as required supporting incident escalations.
-Identify new technologies, trends, and opportunities.
Agile Development
-Participate in sprint planning, design, coding, unit testing, sprint reviews.
-Provide basic design documents and translates into component-level designs to accelerate development. Design, develop, and distribute reusable technical components.
-Assist in developing of technical documentation; participate in test-plan development, integration and deployment.
-Define & develop project requirements, functional specifications and detailed designs of application solutions for clients.
What Are the Requirements You Must Meet? – Required Job Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree OR Technical Certification and/or College Courses and 1 year Information Technology experience OR 4 years Information Technology experience.
-Possess ability to sit and perform computer entry for entire work shift, as required.
-Possess ability to manage workload, manage multiple priorities, and manage conflicts with customers/employees/managers, as applicable.
--Knowledge of, or exposure to traditional app languages (COBOL / Perl / C+, scripting languages (BASH / PERL / PYTHON / RUBY), application / product feature design, integration technologies (Tibco/Informatica/CAS), mobile technologies (HP Anywhere / iOS / Android / Java / HTML5), Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), web technologies (HTML/CSS/Java/ASP.Net/PHP/Ruby/C#), cloud computing technologies (SaaS / IaaS / PaaS), and application configuration.
-Knowledge of Rapid prototyping.
-SDLC Methodology (Agile / Scrum / Iterative Development).
-System performance management.
-Systems change / configuration management.
-Business requirements management.
-Problem solving /analytical thinking.
-Creative thinking.
-Ability to execute.
-Travel availability up to 20%.
