Micro-internship: Design and Data Visualization Intern

  • Purpose of the internship: The purpose of the internship is to expand the impact and value of the Higg Index tools by creating presentation materials that can be leveraged for stakeholder engagement, business development and memberships. The intern will compare the usage for the tools with the Sustainable Development Goals issued by the UN. The Intern will also leverage this opportunity to work with the Business Development team to put together other items for communications in stakeholder engagements and memberships. Intern may be asked to assist in project management and administrative tasks.
  • Projects specs: Creation of visual materials that can be leveraged in our business development, stakeholder engagement and membership decks. The SAC receives many inquiries in regards to how our Higg Index tools are relevant to SDGs. The intern would gain knowledge of and/or experience in the development of graphics for data in standardized sustainability measurement.
  • Relationship with overall objectives of organization: This will help our stakeholders, members and potential business partners see the alignment between the SAC's Higg Index Tools and the UN's SDGs. It will provide a more clear direction for specific organizations to set Science Based Targets that align with both the SAC Membership Adoption Requirements and specifics SDGs.
  • Supervisory relationships: Managed by the Business Development and Memberships team. Equipment to be used: Connected computer
  • Skills, personality characteristics: Strong in research, analysis and communications skills. Data visualization skills. Detail and process oriented. Knowledge of corporate sustainability, sustainability reporting frameworks, design elements, proficiency in Google Suite experience preferred.
  • # of hours expected: 140 hours (35 hours/week)

“The stipend listed for this opportunity is through MIT’s Experiential Learning Opportunity (ELO) guarantee of up to $1,900 for every undergraduate student. Funding for this micro-internship is exclusively provided through this source for either a Fall or IAP experience and is intended for first and second year undergraduates. If you did not complete a Fall ELO, then you are eligible to receive funding for this experience. Or, if you completed a Fall ELO and it was supported by departmental funds or program endowment, you are also eligible to receive payment.

First year international students are not eligible as these opportunities require off campus work authorization. Interested international sophomores need CPT/OPT authorization in order to engage in these opportunities.
