Micro-Intern: Higg BRM Equivalency Mapping (IAP-Alumni Host)

Position Description:
  • Purpose of the internship: The purpose of the internship is to expand the impact and value of the Higg Index's brand and retail environmental and social assessment by aligning its questions with other priority, recognized frameworks.
  • Projects specs: Creation of process for consistent review and alignment of the Higg Brand and Retail Module with 3-5 other frameworks/assessments identified as high priority; identification of specific questions for alignment; recommendations for alignment.
  • Outcomes: Recognized alignment and/or pathway for alignment of Higg BRM with other identified reporting frameworks.Relationship with overall objectives of organization: This will move the organization closer to becoming a "one stop shop" for apparel and footwear organizations to report on their environmental and social performance.
  • Supervisory relationships: Managed by Director of Brand and Retail Performance and/or Manager, Higg Index. Equipment to be used: Connected computer.
  • Skills, personality characteristics, ID of what is to be learned: Strong in research, analysis and communication skills. Detail and process oriented. Knowledge of corporate sustainability, sustainability reporting frameworks, and the apparel and footwear industry.
  • # hours expected: 140 hours (35 hours/week)

“The stipend listed for this opportunity is through MIT’s Experiential Learning Opportunity (ELO) guarantee of up to $1,900 for every undergraduate student. Funding for this micro-internship is exclusively provided through this source for either a Fall or IAP experience and is intended for first and second year undergraduates. If you did not complete a Fall ELO, then you are eligible to receive funding for this experience. Or, if you completed a Fall ELO and it was supported by departmental funds or program endowment, you are also eligible to receive payment. First year international students are not eligible as these opportunities require off campus work authorization. Interested international sophomores need CPT/OPT authorization in order to engage in these opportunities.
